AID & ATTENDANCE

ABOUT AID & ATTENDANCE

What is Aid & Attendance? The Aid & Attendance pension provides financial assistance to cover medical expenses for the rest of your life. It’s available to honorably discharged veterans and their surviving spouses who meet specific criteria in three categories:

  • Military Requirements:
To qualify, the veteran must have served honorably, with at least one day during a wartime period and a total of 90 days active duty.

  • Monetary Requirements:
Financially, you cannot have over $155,000 in liquid assets, including yearly income. The good news? Your home and vehicle do not count against you.

  • Medical Requirements:
A physician or nurse practitioner must confirm that the veteran or surviving spouse requires medical assistance or long-term care.
